‘BUILDING ON 70 YEARS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE’

Started in 1951 as a response to Dover Baptist Church burning to the ground, Dover Pembroke Fire Department was the first fire department in Goochland County and was located at its present location.  Throughout the last seven decades, Goochland Volunteer Fire Rescue Association - Manakin, Co. #1 has expanded to meet the growing needs of the community. We have transformed from a one engine fully volunteer department, to a fully capable all-hazards response organization staffed by both career and volunteer members. With that growth comes the need to repair and renovate the station in order to meet the needs of our staff and the community.  The Building on 70 years of Community Service Campaign will expand the second floor to make semi-private bunk rooms, add modern bathrooms and showers, renovate and update the kitchen, resurface the parking lot, and redesign the septic system to meet the present and future capacity.  The facade of the historic fire station (parts unchanged since 1951) will remain unaltered.  The goal of the Capital Campaign is  $750,000.
